Passionate Tech Director With Client-First Attitude

NAME: Andy Pope

YOUR BUSINESS / ORGANISATION: PC Futures Ltd

YOUR TITLE IN THAT BUSINESS: Technical Director

WHEN DID THE BUSINESS LAUNCH
We launched in 2013 and we’ve grown well since then. We started in the building we are in now
but as the company has grown we’ve moved offices. Now, we have the main office in the
building and it feels like home, we are settled.

ELEVATOR PITCH – TELL US WHAT YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS DOES IN A NUTSHELL:
PC Futures simply offers technical services to business. This could be a custom software
solution developed by us. Or, it could be a WordPress website, mobile app or outsourced online
marketing. We also have a rare skill set in Amazon management and other e-Commerce related
fields.
In short, we solve technical problems and help businesses to make money online.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR BUSINESS’S USP OVER YOUR PEERS?
Like most businesses, it’s the staff. We adapt what we do to suit the customers and projects we
have.
We don’t talk technical and we are always looking at the business case for something before we
start doing it.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST BUSINESS CHALLENGE SO FAR?
I would say it’s was establishing ourselves. When we first started we took on very small projects
and through hard work and results, we’ve grown to win more and more work and we are still on
the rise.

AND YOUR GREATEST SUCCESS?
The custom software development part has been something we are very proud of. We had spent
years building a strong reputation in WordPress and digital marketing. Now, we are doing the
same in the bespoke software development arena.
It’s great seeing client’s projects come together and for our team to grow and advance our own
technical expertise.

WHAT DOES THE NEXT 12 MONTHS HAVE IN STORE FOR YOU?
We expect to grow and keep doing what we are doing. We are also looking to expand our own
range of products.

Software we’ve written ourselves but also to keep as strong a presence in the local WordPress
Marketing and SEO market.

AND IN FIVE YEARS TIME YOU’D LIKE THE BUSINESS TO?

Ideally to take over the whole building we are in. To grow each division and for our current staff
to move up in the business to become its managers.
Also, to see our own products grow and take off.

NATURALLY, YOU WANT TO REACH CUSTOMERS AND SUPPLIERS AND THOSE WHO
CAN HELP YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS SUCCEED. WHO MIGHT YOU WANT TO HEAR
FROM (TYPES OF SERVICES OR BUSINESSES)?

For customers we are pretty varied. This could be someone wanting to automate or improve a
way their business works internally or externally. We can help with this. It could also be as
simple as someone wants their website to work for them and to make money, rather than the
other way around.
Equally, it could be someone wanting to get started or to sell more products on Amazon. We’ve
taken some companies global through this platform and the results are excellent.
New suppliers with innovative products and services can also reach out to us. We’ve got a great
list of suppliers in place but we are always looking out to improve what we offer to our customers.

WHEN YOU FEEL TROUBLED OR ‘BEATEN’ AT ANY STAGE IN BUSINESS LIFE, WHAT’S
YOUR SECRET TO RALLYING YOURSELF?
As a Christian I take comfort in knowing I can speak to God about my problems and invariably
this helps me find a way through problems.

DO YOU HAVE A MENTOR, OR HAVE YOU USED ONE? IF SO, HOW WAS THAT?
No, I’ve been in business for some time and I’ve had the chance to learn from my mistakes.
I’m also lucky enough to have a team who contribute to what and how we do things and a
business partner who is an active sounding board.
We talk things through and this has helped us to navigate through anything unusual.

WHAT’S CHANGING ABOUT YOUR INDUSTRY THAT MAKES IT SUCH A GOOD SPACE TO
BE IN?
A lot of things will change all over when Brexit is enacted but we think this will be a slow pace of
change. Technology moves at a steady pace now and it’s our job to keep on top of this.
The main thing we think that will change is customers. Their needs and businesses are what
impacts us mostly and helping them to adapt is a strength of ours.
Thankfully we are agile enough to become what our customers need. Some need very little and
some lean on us a lot. It’s about being what they need us to be when they need us.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO SOMEONE WANTING TO ENTER YOUR INDUSTRY SPACE?
Technology is fantastic. It really is and the opportunities around AI and so many other things are
going to work wonders in the years to come. Until then though, it’s simply a case of hard work,
integrity and ideally, specialise in something and put the hours in.

As a business we work in a few different areas and that is because we have experts in each field
and we don’t outsource our work, that is a big thing for us.
When we first started out with just the two directors we had to be fairly narrow in what we did and
over time and has we’ve grown we’ve been able to do more, this staggered expansion is why its
worked.
